Conference Questions:
I am trying to get a feel for what the conference will be like?
Our conference is unlike any other. We provide a welcoming and inclusive experience, FRW has many non local members that join our chapter after attending our conference.
We have fabulous networking opportunities. Unlike most conferences, the agents and editors eat dinner with us every night. They are not off with their clients. And often times, agents and editors want company to go on excursions. Other times it’s a cocktail, coffee, karaoke, or a pool where everyone is welcome to go.
The workshops are always memorable especially Floridian Idol which allows you a glimpse into the agent & editors minds, and every person.
What does the companion/spouse conference fee cover? Is it required?
For the companion fee, your companion can attend the social events such as welcome aboard party, farewell party, Floridian Idol reading, keynote speech, et. Basically, no workshops. The companion fee is also not due at time of registration, but would need to be paid 90 days in advance.
No, it is not required. Anyone can come onboard we notate them as a not attending.
How many people are you expecting?
100-150 people in our group onboard.
Is there a chance of more agents/editors coming aboard?
At this time, we are full. However, as our attendance builds we re-evaluate this regularly. If you know of an agent and editor who truly wants to join us, have them contact us.
When will you post the full conference schedule?
Due to the flexible nature of the cruise line and the onboard events, we provide a full schedule at registration. However we do have a sample schedule available to view and a list of the workshops and events available here.
What is the dress code?
Dinner tends to run the gauntlet from very elegant on formal night to business casual. During workshops and such, we aim for a professional casualness that makes everyone comfortable. At the away port, comfortable shoes, sun block, and comfort are key. If you are going on an excursion, recommendations are provided by the cruise line.
Cruise questions:
Celebrity has a FAQ section please feel free to visit it in addition to the information we have provided. See link here.
I have never been on a cruise, what is it like?
Very relaxing and enjoyable. Every dinner is served, but there are buffets everywhere if you’re hungry. There is an ice rink on the ship, a promenade for shopping and socializing and the deck for the sunshine. Cruises are similar to Disney world in that they seek to ensure you’re having an amazing experience.
What port do we sail out of?
Port Everglades. It is adjacent to Fort Lauderdale international airport.
How do I get a roommate?
Our travel agent, Elda Maldonado, can help you find a roommate. Please contact her.
Do we have to go through your travel agent?
Yes, by booking with our travel agent you will be guaranteed to dine with the group which includes the agents & editors, thus providing a great networking experience.
The Cabin fare on your website is too high and I cannot afford to come?
Before passing on the wonderful opportunities our conference provides, contact our travel agent, Elda Maldonado. She has access to special fares not reflected on our website, plus we have many people interested in sharing cabins with three or four people, which can greatly reduce the costs per person.
I found a lower Cabin fare rate online?
Keep in mind the rates we publicize are the standard rates, as the year progresses there are special offer that our travel agent, Elda Maldonado has access to but we cannot publicize. Elda can also match most rates you see elsewhere. If you find that is not the case, contact me at FrwFunintheSun@yahoo.com to discuss.
Do I need to bring a towel?
No. Typically, the cruise line will provide pool towels or even towels for your day onshore.
